A total of 3,812 bankruptcy proceedings and 471 business restructuring petitions were concluded by courts in 2024, according to Statistics Finland.
Altogether 602 of the petitions for bankruptcy ended with certification of the disbursement list and in 124 of the petitions for restructuring proceedings cases the payment schedule was confirmed.
In 2024, the most common reason for discontinuing bankruptcy proceedings was the insufficient means of the bankruptcy estate, which was the reason in 2,046 cases.
The most common reason for discontinuing business restructuring proceedings was an order for the termination of the proceedings, which was the reason in 160 cases.
A total of 99 of the confirmed restructuring programmes were concluded within less than 12 months and in 25 cases the procedure lasted over one year.
