Posti axes 121 permanent employees

National postal and logistic services operator Posti decided to cut 121 jobs, said Posti in a press release on Wednesday.
Posti took the decision following the reduced number of paper mail during the recent years due to changes in customer needs and the operating environment.
The job cuts will take place in the mail sorting section in Helsinki, early-morning delivery operations, transferring services from Posti-owned shops and centralizing customer service in Posti’s service centers.
The codetermination talks in this regard have now concluded and the number of personnel reductions is smaller than initially estimated.
At the start of the negotiations in January, the total reduction need was estimated at up to 172 permanent employees.
The reduced need for workforce adjustments is influenced by employer-supported solutions, with some employees being redeployed to other roles within Posti and others transitioning outside Posti in other ways.
“Customer needs and the broader societal operating environment are changing and evolving faster than before. This requires us to renew our operations,” said Mikko Hoikkala, responsible for Posti's operations in the press release.
