Turnover in industry drops by 5.7% in July

Working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) decreased by 5.7 per cent in July 2025 from July 2024, according to Statistics Finland.

Working day adjusted turnover decreased most in July in the electronic and electrical industry, by 14.3 per cent from the year before. Turnover also decreased in the forest industry (11.7%), the metal industry (7.1%), the chemical industry (6.1%) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (0.7%).

Turnover in mining and quarrying increased by 13.6 per cent from the year before. Turnover in the food industry was 5.2 per cent higher and turnover in the textile, clothing and leather industry 1.9 per cent higher than one year earlier.

Export turnover grew most in July in the industry of mining and quarrying, by 48.2 per cent from the previous year. Export turnover also increased in the food industry (6.5%) and in the textile, clothing and leather industry (1.9%).

Export turnover in the electronic and electrical industry decreased by 18.7 per cent and export turnover in the metal industry by 11.1 per cent from the year before. Export turnover in the chemical industry was 7.2 per cent lower and export turnover in the forest industry 2.9 per cent lower than one year earlier.

Domestic turnover grew most in July in the electronic and electrical industry, by 18.9 per cent from one year before. Domestic turnover also went up in the metal industry (6.4%), the food industry (4.2%) and the textile, clothing and leather industry (1.9%). Domestic turnover decreased in the forest industry (-28.6%), mining and quarrying (-10.4%) and the chemical industry (-3.9%).

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry decreased by 3.6 per cent in July 2025 compared to June. Turnover grew by 1.3 per cent in June and decreased by 2.3 per cent in May compared to the month before.
