There were 34,100 open job vacancies in 2025, which is 22 per cent fewer than one year earlier (43,700), according to Statistics Finland.
Examined on the annual level, the number of open job vacancies has decreased in three consecutive years and their number has fallen to half of the level in 2022.
On average, 23,600 or 69 per cent of job vacancies in 2025 were offered by establishments owned by private enterprises, while in the previous year the corresponding share was 70 per cent.
In all, 5,700 or 17 per cent of job vacancies were in establishments of municipalities, joint municipal authorities or wellbeing services counties, while one year earlier the share was 16 per cent.
In 2025, the number of open job vacancies decreased on the annual level in all major regions and especially in Western Finland (3,500).
The number of open job vacancies also decreased in all size categories of establishments, most in establishments with 5 to 9 employees (3,200).
Examined by the industry of the establishment, the biggest annual level change was the decrease in open job vacancies (2,300) in the industry group of trade, transportation and storage, and accommodation and restaurant activities.
Examined on the annual level, the share of part-time jobs in job vacancies has decreased slightly compared to the previous year, while the share of fixed-term jobs has grown.
Eighteen per cent of job vacancies were part-time in 2025, while the corresponding share was 19 per cent in 2024.
The share of fixed-term jobs was 43 per cent of all job vacancies, while one year earlier the corresponding figure was 37 per cent.
The share of job vacancies considered hard-to-fill has decreased clearly. Employers estimated that 33 per cent of the job vacancies were hard-to-fill, while the share was 42 per cent one year earlier.
