Job vacancies reduce in Finland by 38% in Q2

There were 28,900 open job vacancies in the second quarter of 2025, which is 38 per cent fewer than one year earlier (47,000), according to Statistics Finland.

In the second quarter of 2025, altogether 18,800 or 65 per cent of the job vacancies were in establishments owned by private enterprises. T

The number of open job vacancies decreased compared to one year ago especially in private sector establishments by 15,800.

The number of open job vacancies decreased in all major regions, and the change was biggest in Northern and Eastern Finland by 7,600.

Examined by the industry of the establishment, job vacancies decreased in nearly all industry groups and particularly in construction by 4,300.

The number of open job vacancies also went down in all size categories of establishments.

In the second quarter, 39 per cent of all job vacancies were fixed-term, that is, four percentage points more than one year earlier.

The share of part-time jobs in all job vacancies was 15 per cent, which is lower than in the previous year (19%).

Employers estimated that 37 per cent of the job vacancies were hard-to-fill, which is six percentage points lower than one year before (43%).
