Lumber harvest rises by 12% in Finland in May

A total of 2.0 million cubic meters of sawlogs was harvested in in May this year, which was 12 percent higher than the harvest in the stipulated month in the previous year, according to the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).

In May 2026, a total of 1.9 million cubic meters of pulpwood was also harvested in the country, which is one percent higher than in May 2025.

Three million cubic meters of industrial roundwood was harvested from private forests and it was 5% higher than in May 2025.

From forest industry companies’ own forests and state-owned forests, 0.9 million cubic meters of industrial roundwood was harvested, which was 11% higher compared to May, 2025.

In May, 0.5 million cubic meters of energy-wood was harvested, which was 10% lower than in the stipulated month of the previous year.

From January to May 2026, a total of 2.8 million cubic meters of energy-wood had been harvested in Finland, which was 13% percent lower than the first five months of the previous year.
