100 top ranking staff to affect as UPM starts negotiation talks
Finnish forest-based bio-industry company UPM Plywood has started negotiation talks to reduce workforces affecting about 100 senior salaried officials and directors, said UPM in a press release on Thursday.
The negotiations will affect the top ranking staff working in UPM Plywood business organization, business functions and global functions in Finland.
According to a preliminary estimate, the plan may lead to the dismissal of about 15 senior salaried and directors due to financial and production-related reasons.
In addition, the plan may lead to changes in the way the work is organized, including job content and placement of positions within the UPM Plywood organization.
The aim of the planned changes is to safeguard the competitiveness of UPM Plywood business in a challenging operating environment.
Decisions on possible redundancies will be made once the change negotiations have been concluded.
Earlier in March 2025, UPM decided to close paper mill in Germany, which will 462 staff.
